The radio source in Abell 980: A Detached-Double-Double Radio Galaxy?

چکیده

Abstract It is argued that the new morphological and spectral information gleaned from recently published LoFAR Two metre Sky Survey data release 2 (LoTSS-2 at 144 MHz) observations of cluster Abell 980 (A980), in combination with its existing GMRT VLA higher frequencies, provide much-needed evidence to strengthen proposal cluster’s radio emission comes mainly two double sources, both produced by brightest galaxy (BCG) major episodes jet activity. The lobes left previous activity have become diffuse developed an ultra-steep spectrum while rising buoyantly through confining hot intra-cluster medium (ICM) and, concomitantly, host has drifted centre entered a active phase manifested coinciding younger source. observational results arguments presented here bolster case old young sources A980 conjointly represent ‘double-double’ whose lobe pairs lost colinearity due (lateral) drift their parent galaxy, making this system far most plausible ‘Detached-Double-Double Radio Galaxy’ (dDDRG).

The double radio source 3 C 343 . 1 : A galaxy - QSO pair with very different redshifts

The strong radio source 3C343.1 consists of a galaxy and a QSO separated by no more than about 0.25′′. The chance of this being an accidental superposition is conservatively ∼ 1 × 10. The z = 0.344 galaxy is connected to the z = 0.750 QSO by a radio bridge. The numerical relation between the two redshifts is that predicted from previous associations. This pair is an extreme example of many simi...

SGRS J0515−8100: a Fat-Double giant radio galaxy

We present here the first detailed study of a giant radio galaxy of the FatDouble type. The lobes of the double radio galaxy SGRS J0515−8100 have transverse widths that are 1.3 times their extent from the center, their surface brightness is the lowest among known giant radio sources and the lobes have relatively steep radio spectra. We infer that these wide lobes were created as a result of a h...

The radio properties of the cD galaxy of Abell 2390

We present multi-frequency, multi-epoch radio imaging of the complex radio source B2151+174 in the core of the cluster, Abell 2390 (z ≃ 0.23). From new and literature data we conclude that the FRII-powerful radio source is the combination of a compact, core-dominated ‘medium-symmetric object’ (MSO) with a more extended, steeper spectrum mini-halo. B2151+174 is unusual in a number of important a...

Gb2 0909+353: One of the Largest Double Radio Source

The evidence are given that the radio source GB2 0909+353 (GB2 catalogue: Machalski 1978; ICRS 2000.0 coordinates: 09 12 51.7, +35 10 10) is likely one of the largest classical doubles known, though its optical identification is not certain. Our deep VLA observations at 5 GHz did not reveal a radio core brighter than 0.5 mJy/beam at this frequency. Thus a distance to the source is evaluated usi...

Spectral ageing analysis of the double - double radio galaxy J 1453 + 3308

We present new radio observations at frequencies ranging from 240 to 4860 MHz of the well-known, double-double radio galaxy (DDRG), J1453+3308, using both the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) and the Very Large Array (VLA). These observations enable us to determine the spectra of the inner and outer lobes over a large frequency range and demonstrate that while the spectrum of the outer lo...
